Player 01 — Game Design, Year 3

Simonas Bačkis

Hi, I'm a Game UI/UX designer who builds what I design.
I take interfaces from wireframe to working UI in Unreal Engine 5, so your team gets screens that are ready to play, not just ready to review.

3D point-and-click adventure

It’s Not You, It’s Us

A cozy 3D point-and-click adventure where the Urbanimals come together to make their town a better place. Made for a client, with a team that grew from seven designers to 13 developers across disciplines.

// 02 — About

Who am I?

I’m Simonas, a third-year game design student who cares about the moment a player understands an interface without thinking about it.

UX & UI design

Core

Wireframes, flows and mockups in Figma, designed so players always know what to do next.

UI programming

Core

Menus, HUDs and feedback systems in Unreal Engine 5, built as reusable systems the team can work with.

Team Collaboration

Core

Clear UI guidelines for artists and regular progress updates, so the team can plan around my work and I can plan around theirs.

UI art & visual design

Learning

Learning Photoshop and Illustrator to create my own UI assets, from first sketch to final in-engine UI.

Valorant

Dutch Student League · A couple of years

I competed in the Dutch Student League for a couple of years for Breda Guardians and won first place in Season 4, Split 2! Competing came down to clear calls, quick decisions and trusting my team, all under pressure. It also showed me how much a clear HUD matters when every second counts.
